so i switched back to AbiWord after using OpenOffice for most of the year; not being sloggy and bloated by a word processor is nice.

I also found out you can change the colour of your onscreen “paper”, so I made it eggshell. [nice and duller than pure white] now if only i could replace TNR as the default font…I usually prefer to type in monospace fonts or pixel fonts; because it’s not about “the reader” and it’s purely for me. It’s the digital equivalent of thumb nailing really small.

also after a while of thinking about a thing, I tend to write my notes in code or scribbles. With a different font atleast I can feel subversive without forgetting what something meant a few years later. [really I have text files I don’t quite remember writing that just contain the names of prehistoric fish repeated over and over with a character’s name and all I know is that it was an important revelation.]

just think i could have shared with you all my overblown annoyance at ppl calling .exe files “apps” but instead you get this prattle.

I just want to give my two cents on this and tell you a story.

A couple weeks ago, I was hired at Target. I have a job at Target. Not a big deal right?

It is a big deal because i’m a transman.

It doesn’t take a genius to conclude that it’s hard for me, my brothers, and sisters to get a job. There are legal restraints regarding the job and if you don’t pass, it’s hard to be taken seriously at a job interview.

Right on the application, it asks what your preferred name is. It also asks if there is anything that target should know. I put the fact that I am a transman, expecting not to get a call because usually when you put that down, people will throw out the application. I got TWO interviews.

At the interview, they asked me about it. I told them I am on hormones and they told me that they didn’t care. Not in the sense that they don’t emotionally care, but that it didn’t matter. I was male and that’s all that mattered. They also told me that they give sex same couples benefits in states that do not recognize them as a married couple.

At my job orientation, I was not misgendered once. Even my supervisors who weren’t sure of my gender avoided pronoun use, which I found only happens when you’ve had pronoun training. They gave me a name tag with my preferred name and didn’t ask questions. I felt safe and respected, which is huge for a trans* person.

TLDR: Target is amazing not just for the LGB, but also the T. Shop there for the rest of your life.

This is really interesting and a total turn around from last I heard about Target’s stance on LGB & T campaigns and employment. I guess I’m skeptical to go “woo corporation suddenly changing ways as market acceptability shifts” when I saw other trans ppl loose their jobs at Target, that whole anti-gay debacle a few years ago….

It’s good that these things change, I guess I just don’t see it as anything to really be happy at Target about.

Ever since tumblr borked missing e I haven’t been tagging, mostly because it’s a lot of mental effort for me [“WHAT IS THIS ABOUT HOW CAN I DICTATE THE THEMATIC CONTENT OF THIS POST???”] which I feel is kind of shitty because I like having/using/there being tags. Most of the tags I used were legacy tags; by which I mean they were tagged by someone else and I preserved them. I liked this because they were usually a good set of tags that made sense to me.

But I’m shite at tagging things myself. :|

Dumbfounded when a fashion/styleblog is like “oh we’re not interested in x anymore really it’s gonna be more y z from now on!” but then a few months after the “style change”, it’s not really different from whatever x they were posting and “got tired of”.

I mean they can post whatever they want.

But why bother make “changing direction” posts when you really just needed to see more inspiring stuff instead of the same 5 recycled catwalks and 2 webshops they’ve been looking at for the past year. Because it’s totally the same style of content they’ve just started finding it in new places.

I don’t usually troll thru the yaoi/BL/shounen ai tags, but when I do I RBlog a random manga sequence because I like that a character says “no” and then is allowed to leave.idk anything else about the comic, thou; but just generally, it’s nice to see a different plot device than sexual coercion.
